The ugly shed's demise

If you didn't know we have the ugliest and yet, most well-built shed ever constructed in the back yard.

It was a particularly annoying week at work so Simon decided it was a perfect time to let Mr. Shed meet the sledgehammer...
There was a few hours of grunting and new "British" words I hadn't heard before... but it seems the shed came off worse in this encounter.

By the way, when you destroy an ugly shed you create a new ugly pile of wood...

Bye Shed... no more will we hear the "wow" of our guests when they first lay their eyes on your ugliness. We will not miss you.

When life hand you lemons, fly to Philadelphia!

So... on Carrie and Stancie's journey home from Arkansas, they flew Stand-by from LIT to ATL, with no problem. Hoping to then get on a flight to SNA, but all the flights were oversold. They tried to get anywhere west DEN, LAS, LAX, SLC, PHX, SFO, SAN, ONT..... all oversold.... and only going to get worse as the day went on.
The only option they came up with was to find a bar... and fast.  Simon had been assisting them over the phone with looking up flight options, and luckily stepped in with another plan! Miraculously, he came up with the best idea yet.
AN OPEN FLIGHT TO PHILLY!
We got on the flight and quickly invited ourselves for dinner with the Greywoodes! We ended up staying 2 nights and got to babysit Audrey while her parents went to work.
It was fun "stopping by" to see the Greywoodes, like they live in the town over. It was such a great ending to a fun weekend!

Audrey got some great practice dancing! She can actually move her hips like she knows she should be dancing! If she does become a dancer, Stancie and I take credit for that!
Audrey had fun with her "Yet to be named Grandma" and Auntie Carrie, but there's nothing that compares to when Mom comes home!

Audrey likes to taste things and chew on them. She is teething so everything she grabs, goes in her mouth. She also likes to start talking while these things are in her mouth.

She got to have her rice cereal while we were there! As simple as that is, it was such a fun and important thing to watch!
We know the rumors that are going around about how Stancie and I came to fly to Philly.
One of the rumors is that we planned it the whole time.
Yes, we did joke, before and during our flying that if we couldn't get to Arkansas, or get home that we would fly to Philly. So we admit that does look bad. But, to back us up, it was Simon who came up with the brilliant idea, and Tom was actually the last person to know. I believe Simon, Lita/Thon, Taylor, Leslie, some of Stancie's friends and obviously the Greywoodes all knew we were in Philly before he knew. He had left his phone at home, so he did not get the news until he called from his office to find out where we were. "Where" meaning ATL or SNA. It was pretty fun to say that we were in Philly!

So, this is the truth. Don't believe the rumors.

Hot Springs, Arkansas

Carrie and Stancie flew "Stand-by *" out to grand ole' Hot Springs to celebrate the future arrival Baby Boy Foss.
While the two excited Grandma's (well, one is still a future grandma), went around working on Wedding stuff; Taylor, Leslie and Chappy took Carrie Shotgun shooting. And yes, she hit a clay pigeon!
After some delicious southern BBQ, we all went to the horse races.
The cutest band ever!

The Jockeys really make the races. Their outfits are great.

I forgot to take more photos of the rest of the weekend, but Stancie and I had a blast. We were graciously taken in by the Harper's for delicious gourmet Bacon Sandwiches. We saw a preview of where their wedding ceremony will take place, and we both agree it is a gorgeous location. The baby shower was a lot of fun, and of course always fun to see baby clothes. It is so exciting to have a future family member on his way!

*Stand-by= As an employee of an airline we have wonderful flight benefits. But, flying Stand-by means if a seat available, then we can get on the flight. That also means we can pretty easily get stuck somewhere if there are no seats open.

Another passenger.. Denied Boarding

We hope to be able to bring you true stories about the day to day happenings transporting 300+ people around the country on a daily basis.. this is more of a disturbing story but also funny depending on your sense of humor! When it comes to the anger we encounter (mostly Carrie, as I have a bullet-proof door between myself and the passengers..), some of it is justified... to a point.

Frustration is somewhat justified, anger to the point of being arrested is not. It's amazing the behavior we witness in an airport. Why is it that normal behaving people in everyday life can become crazed psychotics in an airport, and why do they think it's o.k to behave like this once in the confines of an airport? Normal social behavior applies in airports.

I arrived at my gate this week for another flight out of Denver. It was a blizzard in Denver, we were supposedly a full airplane and the weather in Milwaukee was freezing fog... fun day ahead.
I was thinking of how to get 50 people through this weather so they would never realize what they had just flown through, so I was not in the mood for what we encountered at the gate. The gate agent was shaking when I went up to the gate and informed me the police were on their way to arrest a passenger. He asked me not to look but told me where the passenger was sitting. I , of course, looked..  It was an interesting sight. The passenger had baggy sweats on, open necked shirt to the waist and diamonds in both ears. This wouldn't be that unusual but the gentleman was about 70... hmmm..

Well, apparently the passenger had approached the gate and enquired as to where the Milwaukee flight was leaving from. Upon being told it was 20 feet away, he flew into a rage and threatened the gate agent with serious physical damage, this was interspersed with a tirade of cussing which was continued as he sat 50 feet from the gate!  Now I have seen rage like this at the airport many times, but it usually involves cancelled flights and weather...( or drunk people) but this time was unique as the flight was on time!! If he had behaved he could have got his flight and been home on time...  needless to say the outcome was a lot different. It went like this:
1. I denied him boarding.
2. He was arrested.

One thing we can rely on are the airport police, they are the enforcers of normal social behavior at the airport! Oh and they are kind of bored so really look forward to arresting anyone..
